Lot of Freemount house for your money

Saturday, July 24, 2010

CHEAPER than it would cost to build is this Freemount, north Cork detached 3,000 sq ft detached family home – carrying a €175,000 asking price.

In some quarters that €175k sum might just about get you a one or two-bed apartment you could just about swing a cat in: here’s you’d graze a pony or calf, or at least give a large dog a run for his money.

The reason for the great value, primarily, is its rural, low-key location, but if the setting suits, you’ll get a lot of house for your money.

So says Charleville auctioneer PJ O’Gorman, as he seeks offers around his asking price for the modern, mid-2000s build on a half acre site.

The house has three ground floor bedrooms, one with en suite, and two reception rooms, and the upper level’s 1,500 sq ft is floored, with four Velux windows, so will need just some further spending to get up to and perhaps over five bedrooms.
