Gardaí are mounting additional checkpoints over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
They will be concentrating primarily on speeding and drink-driving, as they try to reduce death and injury on Ireland's roads over the long weekend.
Seatbelt wearing and the use of mobile phones will also be the focus of attention.
